This course will discuss sampling fundamentals and various sampling techniques. Techniques to prevent cross-contamination, properly package samples and to establish chain of custody are discussed. Students will perform each of the discussed sampling techniques during a practical exercise. This course will provide first responders with the competencies to collect samples of possible CBRN contamination in order to allow laboratories to conduct highly reliable scientific analysis of samples. Students will be organized into 2-person teams to conduct the practical exercise. Students will have the opportunity to function both as the sampler (dirty-person) and the assistant (clean-person).
