FRI Officer Development Program

The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and Columbia Southern University (CSU) proudly announced a groundbreaking collaboration that delivers on one of the key goals – to EDUCATE - in the IAFC Board’s new Strategic Initiative Plan (SIP) adopted earlier this year.

Through its partnership, Columbia Southern University (CSU) becomes the "Officer Development Program (ODP) Educational Partner of the IAFC." Both organizations are committed to empowering aspiring and seasoned fire service professionals through a new, comprehensive, learning platform, making education more accessible to all IAFC members.

Introduction: We are excited to announce the launch of our newly revised IAFC/CSU Officer Development Program (ODP) dedicated to supporting fire service professionals and promoting community health. As part of this program, we are seeking experienced and knowledgeable instructors to deliver ninety (90)-minute workshops for live in-person deliveries for the Fire Rescue International (FRI) conference. The workshops must align with the Officer Development Programs, Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs) for Company Officers, Chief Officers, and Executive Chief Officers. The ODP also equips fire service leaders with the skills and insights needed to excel in their roles while focusing on community overall safety and health.

Program Overview: The Officer Development Program (ODP) is committed to developing visionary leaders within the fire service community. The Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs) emphasize the integration of public health strategies, collaborative community-government relations, crisis communication, and resilience development within the context of fire and emergency services leadership.

Call for Workshop Instructors: We invite qualified individuals with expertise in various aspects of fire service leadership and community health to submit proposals for ninety (90)-minute workshops. These workshops should align with the Officer Development Programs specific Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs) for Company Officers, Chief Officers, and Executive Chief Officers.
